Speaker: Helen Godden Lecture: “My Top 10 Art Quilt Techniques”
Helen Godden is an Extreme Free Motion Quilter (EFMMQ) from Australia. She has been an artist all of her life and started quilting at the age of 38. She has been awarded many times for her innovative quilts, both internationally and nationally. She is the Handi Quilter Ambassador for the Sweet Sixteen.
During the pandemic Helen needed a personal challenge so she made a huge quilt of a picture she had drawn in 2018 called “My Australia” which is 22’ x 5”.
With a slide show and Q&A discussion, Helen says to grab a cuppa tea as she shares her favorite techniques that she uses to create her art quilts. She will discuss painting with acrylic on fabric, her easy ways to paint with dye and salt, and her “secret squirrel” technique of painting with bleach. She will share free-motion yarn couching techniques and how she physically manages her current passion to quilt BIG!
